Salvation Army • The Coinless Kettle
We put a modern twist on a 127 year-old icon and reimagined donation in a cashless society.
Using historical images from the Salvation Army archives, we designed a series of posters to bring this American icon of fundraising into the present day.
This project was done entirely on spec, because we had a cool idea.
We pitched to the Chicago area Salvation Army chapter, and launched a pilot program to test The Coinless Kettle in & around our offices in The Merchandise Mart building.
In just one week, we raised over $500.
And even though they didn’t move forward with our team, it’s clear we sparked something: the next holiday season, the Salvation Army launched tap-to-donate bus stop ads in Chicago.
